So, yesterday, I was finally given my meds from my new psychiatrist. Wellbutrin to control my ADHD and depression and Vistaril to control my PTSD and anger management. All well and good.
Except the Vistaril is kicking my f***ing ass!
I started on the Vistaril last night, taking a pill at 6pm and a pill at midnight. I couldn't start on the Wellbutrin until today since the instructions forbid me from taking the second pill any later than 1pm (apparently, taking Wellbutrin is like taking caffeine pills and I do need to sleep at night). When I underwent a ritual this morning that could mockingly be contrasted to "waking up," I realized that the prescribed two pills of Vistaril per day was going to be way too much.
Thankfully, the Vistaril dosage has a cop-out clause, stating I should take it "as needed." This way, I'm not hounding the doctor every day to adjust the rate of my dosage. I can do that myself.
Curious as to why the Vistaril had such a profound effect on me, I did some research. It's an ANTIHISTIMINE!!! That explains the odd taste in my mouth. The fraggin' stuff is used for allergies as well as for anxiety. Oh, and it is prescribed to people undergoing chronic withdrawals from alcohol, too. Take about a versatile drug.
I'm going to cut myself back to just one pill a night, to see if that makes a difference.
God, I'm tired right now. LOL!
