ST FF: The Ready Room(USS Calhoun - Deck Six - 2395.07.15, 0918)
Ghalev strode purposefully down the corridor.  He had just woken up and checked on the CSO's office to see if there were any equipment or simulators available to test-run when Captain Summer's call went out.
Ghalev got to the turbolift and stepped inside.
"Computer, bridge," Ghalev barked, feeling the subtle sense of inertia as a response.
"You're not happy," came Shieri's voice.
Ghalev nodded, not even bothering to look towards his shen daughter.
"Nothing is functioning on the ship right now except life su ST FF: The Ready Room

ST FF: Cmdr Ditch's Test(Beta One - Training Facility Command Center - 2395.07.14, 1310)
After leaving the CSO office on the Calhoun, Ghalev ran as best as he could through Beta One to get to the training facility command center.
He'd gotten quite a few disgruntled protests along the way as he ran into one person or another.  But quickly... more quickly than he'd anticipated... he'd arrived.
As he ran up, Commander Callahan was explaining the instructions.
"I want to stress this isn't a race. The most important part of this mission is to solve the dilemma that emerges and to do so withou ST FF: Cmdr Ditch's Test

ST:FF Department Head?(USS Calhoun - Deck 6 - Chief Science Officer's Office - 2395.07.14, 12:30)
It had been a week since the Calhoun left Pandora Station for Beta One.
It was oddly comforting to Ghalev that his very first mission aboard the Sovereign-class starship that normally transwarped into the Delta Quadrant would be to casually fly into the Beta Quadrant for a fix and refit.  It gave Ghalev a chance to get used to his new surrounding and new coworkers.
One thing that Ghalev certainly had to get used to was his co-ACSO, Hequill.  Ghalev came into the department slightly bitt ST:FF Department Head?

ST:FF Meeting The Captain(USS Calhoun - Captains Ready Room - 2395.07.07, 2000)
As Ghalev followed Callahan and Mackenzie to the Captain's ready room, he allowed himself to get lost in thought.  It had been a long rode recovering from his personal tragedies and making it through Starfleet Academy.  He realized he was being bitter about his assignment when he shouldn't be.
He'd been through worse... far worse... and he knew he could make due with his new assignment.
The three of them exited the turbolift and entered the bridge.  Ghalev couldn't help but stop and marvel at the ST:FF Meeting The Captain

ST:FF Enter Cmdr Jake Callahan(Pandora Station - Sahar's Oasis - 2395.07.07, 1835)
As Ghalev and Mackenzie continued to to talk to the Trill security officer when a male Terran sporting command colors and commander pips came up.
With him was another male Terran, with operations colors and an ensign pip.   Both wore their dark hair short and appeared fit.  Ghalev would not have been surprised if the operations officer was actually security.
The command officer greeted Jaal and introduced the operations officer, Ensign Simants.  The conversation continued further from there.

ST:FF Enter Hanya JaalAs the conversation continued, Ghalev regretted his snide remark about his assignment.  This Mackenzie girl seemed rather nice and it really wasn't her fault or her responsibility concerning his plight.
He smiled slightly, though when Mackenzie took a sip of her Andorian ale and winced in response.  "This does have it's own flavor, that's for sure," she admitted.
"Indeed it does," Ghalev chuckled softly.  "Much like Terran lauger, it has an acquired taste.  The ivlava juice does take the worst of it out."

ST:FF Endiliv Meets Mackenzie(Pandora Station - Sahar's Oasis - 2395.07.07- 1820)
Ghalev sat down at the bar in Sahar's Oasis at the Pandora Station. He wasn't in an especially good mood.  Being assigned to a starship in the Frontier Fleet, he could understand.  Being assigned to a starship that made regular treks into the Delta Quadrant, he could understand. Being assigned to the science department of that ship rather than to its medical department?  That was a textbook example of bureaucratic incompetency if ever he saw one.

Private Eyes...Tavis looked about the room with satisfaction. There were certainly disadvantages to being Hin (the term Tavis' people use for themselves, though almost everyone else called them "halflings"), mostly the fact that the "tall peoples" hardly ever took them seriously. However, there were times like these where it paid to be a halfling.
The party had just defeated a large group of kobolds, including a shaman and a chieftain, and were a little bit worse for the wear. Especially the dragonborn ranger Beryn, who had rushed off to take on the shaman and two slingers all by himself while the rest of the pa Private Eyes...

Hello all!

Well, I just purchased myself a three-month subscription to DeviantArt... the first time I've done so in the seven years I've been a member of the community. Yay for contributing to the cause, eh?

At any rate, I figured now would be a good time to update my journal, something I really need to do more often.

Married life has its ups and downs. Dee and I are discovering that our differences are starting to get in the way of our happiness. But neither of us want to straight out quit. So we're backing up off of each other, just a little, to see if we can at least get the "best friends" aspect of our relationship back. If we can do that, that will make raising Gabriel and his yet-to-be-born sibling a lot easier.

Speaking of Gabriel, he turned one in February. He's trying so hard to talk and just the other day, he started being able to stand for a few moments without any support. Dee likes to brag that we gave birth to a little genius. We're so insanely proud of him. I love him so much!

In the meantime, I'm trying to coax myself back into a writing mood. As you can see, I managed to crank out a couple of pieces for my Tuesday night D&D4e game. But Jeremy just reset it; the second Player's Handbook just came out plus Jeremy wanted to sanction our games through the RPGA. I can't honestly blame him. Without the RPGA's balancing factor, Ben and Mark would easily outstrip the rest of us in raw unadulterated battlefield prowess. Now, I feel a lot more useful playing my bard. (Yay, bards!)

I've also been busy reenvisioning my fantasy gaming worlds into D&D4e terms. In fact, I'm loving doing that part. It feels that my campaigns were meant for D&D4e all along... it just took 18 years for D&D4e to be published. Of course, I had similar feelings when D&D3e came out 10 years ago, so....

With any luck, I'll be posting more on my page now. I have so many stories bouncing around in my head, I have to write SOMETHING. It's just been getting both the motivation and the time.
